WE ARE NOW LAUNCHING BIOBUZ
Under Ytan stages real and tangible actions that reduce eutrophication, improve water quality and boost biodiversity in the Baltic Sea. It's a beautiful thing. But. What is the economic value of the actions? We will know in 18 months.
We are about to launch a Nordic development project (BioBuz) together with RISE, SLU, OX2 and Nemo Seafarms. The aim is to develop a method that benefits both the environment and the economy, and paves the way for the development of innovative projects in the Nordic blue economy. To realise true value, a new biodiversity credit system tailored to the Baltic Sea region is needed. A robust system with clear incentives for tangible and sustainable practices.
The project will validate the credits through tests at our test facility at Björkskär. Here we are creating a newly developed business model that values different types of efforts. In 18 months, we will have developed sharp models that verify different efforts. Both economically and biologically. Something that is needed to achieve the international and national climate goals that have already been set.
We are of course extremely proud that we have been entrusted with developing this central solution for the survival of the Baltic Sea. That we get to do it together with knowledge giants like our partners is not only a bonus for us. But also for the Baltic Sea.
